Moon Over Ocala

Ocala is the county seat for Marion County, named after General Francis Marion of South Carolina. He was a guerrilla fighter and hero of the American Revolutionary War and also known as the “Swamp Fox.” Many early settlers to this area were from South Carolina, hence the name.
